Poems and a Promise

It has been a long weekend. I planned to get a two posts up. I was going to clarify the "Mer Rape is very common" line from the conversation I posted last week, and I was going to post what is below. Instead I cleaned all weekend and went to my wife's uncles 90th bday party. Overall I had a great time but it didn't leave me anytime to speak to my fellow Mer-enthusiasts. My apologies so for now you get this and I promise tomorrow or Wed, hopefully I can bring out a few more Mer facts.

The IM conversation that started it all

This conversation is crass and blunt around the edges but it does make some very important points on the Mertilian society and Mers as a whole. Many of the themes and idea expressed in this conversation will be set pieces for further posts. Please Enjoy


This conversation was via a chat client online with me (William) and a friend, Eric.

Will: id have sex with a mermaid given the chance

Eric: theres nothing to f^%k

Will: that isn't true

they have an area of scales that pushes forward

and a proboscis like extension that comes forward during times of arousal

Eric: you have given this too much thought that's what scares me

Will: the best part is they have total control of that extension. They can seal it off if as necessary because

mer-rape is very common

Will: the ability to seal the extension allows them to control fertilization

Eric: dude, please stop

Will: genetically unsound and shunned mer people are prone to desperate acts of rape in an attempt to procreate.

this ability to seal off keeps the genetic line strong

Will: any more merology I can share with you?

Eric: not right now thanks

Will: would you like to hear how they go to the bathroom

this one is a little unsettling

since they are creatures of the water they have no reason to urinate

excess liquid simply breathes out of their scales

Solids however are different and need to be expelled

like with people the first stage of digestion begins in the mouth, with the breaking down of starches and sugars

then within the stomach the acid digestion begins and proteins are broken down

the release of polypeptides to deconstruct amino acids

this is very similar to humans

the difference occurs in the next step

normally for humans the food is then passed to the large intestine

merpeople have no intestines

they have a secondary stomach

within this secondary stomach all fibers consumed are hardened around the waste

forming an egg like structure

Will: this egg is then pushed back to the first stomach and passed up their throats

and eventually expelled

Will: because merpeople do not need their throats to breath

Eric: why does it have to be an egg

Will: they do not suffer the risk of choking

well it is though it is an egg due to selective mutation

this egg feeds several other creatures of the sea for it is rich in calcium and nitrates which mer-people have no use for

Will: the autocracy is the area of final rule but it is sublet into several small areas of command which encompass the idea of the merleadership circle

Eric: why are we talking about mermaids

Will: we are talking about mer-people

mermaids are only their females we are talking about the Mertilian society as a whole

Eric: I smell fish

or mouth shits

though the society is male dominant it is the role of the female to do the courting

Will: It has long been acknowledged that the males are the more desired of the pair because there honor and standing in the community establishes the status of the Riffvan when the two Mertilians join.

Will: It is highly uncommon for a mermaid of low family honor to be joined by a merman of high honor, but it does happen, and vice versa. The honor standing of the Riffvan is singularly established by the male so low honor bound maidens can see their honor rise. For this to happen though it will take a truly cunning maid, and a hefty amount of courting

Will: It doesn't happen often that a merman of low honor joins with a female of high standing because the damage it will do to both family Riffvans,

that being said some females are seduced because in mertilian society the beauty ideal is established by the male.

Mer-Mania

Thank you for finding my blog, it is dedicated to all the people in the world who seek to find real knowledge about the not so mythic creatures called mermaids. People have seen mermaids and mermen if films, art, and popular books for years. These acts of pop-culture have exposed us to the Mertilian Society but haven't given us much in the way of insight. Through this blog I will attempt to pull back the myth, lore,and legends about Mer-people and leave only the truth exposed.

In my next post I will show you the conversation that was the inspiration for this starting this blog, also in very post I will translate one small bit of English into Merish
